Within the framework of the Capacity building component of Food Security project funded by the European Union Oxfam in Armenia in cooperation with the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia organised a study tour to Lyon to learn the French mechanisms on food safety risk analysis and assessment. The study tour took place on July 15-23 and involved the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, representatives of the State Service for Food Safety. Agricultural Alliance and Oxfam.
During the study tour the participants met the representatives of the Rhone-Alps regional office for Food Safety to learn about the local risk management system, as well as visited “Toupargel” food packaging factory, “Pier Martinet” food processing plant and winery in Beaujolais region to see how European food safety and risk management standards are being applied. Additionally the delegation had a meeting with the biggest French Association of Small and Medium Size Enterprises where the Government had a chance to discuss possible investments in Armenian agriculture during the upcoming French-Armenian business forum planned for October 2017. At the end the representatives of the Armenian delegation participated in the training on food safety risk assessment and monitoring organised by the Trade and Industry Chamber of Rhone-Alps region.
